In this session we'll discuss the decisions in the process of building an HA /DR environment with container workloads in Red Hat OpenShift. The variations start with the type of storage for the infrastructure components and container workload and is going through all layers of network^ hypervisor and container applications. The landscape can vary from one single hardware machine to multiple machines in multiple Datacenters in different distances.

In this session the speakers will provide you a methodology and resources so that organizations can build either or both their Cybersecurity Framework and/or a Governance Plan that is specific to the z/OS Mainframe inclusive of all three ESMs and they will talk about the value that the creation of these documents will bring to the organization.

With the growth of container technologies and the current focus on OpenShift, it is important to be able to measure the consumption of an OpenShift implementation. In this session, we'll take a look at how to see what is happening.

During this session, attendees will be introduced how to deploy a micro-services application using SUSE Rancher. This will include a technical deep dive with demonstrations which will show how Rancher can simplify Kubernetes management and container deployments on-premise and in the cloud on IBM Z and LinuxONE.

Ansible is gaining popularity for automating provisioning and deployment on the mainframe. In this session we will take a closer look at how to interact with Db2 for z/OS using Ansible: running Db2 utilities, commands, provisioning schemas, deploying schemas, and much more. We will use IBM's Ansible Z collection, but also create our own small samples to cover additional use cases.

We are all in the digital transformation era and "going to cloud" has a lot of different meanings... but what should you do with your existing zSystems environment? It is not a matter of zSystems OR Cloud, but zSystems AND Cloud. In this session the speakers will analyze the advantages to maintaining your critical Data on your existing zSystems as part of your private cloud environment within an overall hybrid cloud strategy. It will be shown how your existing zSystems servers can play a fine-tuned sound within your Digital Transformation Orchestra!

Who is your Insider Threat? In this session the speaker will discuss who your greatest insider threats are, and why they represent your "Enemy Within". A breach can be as simple as someone looking at data in ways that violate your policies. We will look at ways to discover, sooner than later, that you have been breached and discuss how to reduce the risk to the organization.

"Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." - The White Queen: Lewis Carroll (1832-1898), "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." What's your approach to creating your replacement? How do you safely combine volatile ingredients like "youthful exuberance," "limited experience," "extraordinary privilege," and "40-plus adjacent LPARs" without setting the entire laboratory on fire? What if you need a library's worth of training materials, and all you have is a nearly empty bookshelf? How do you maintain a fail-safe environment for yourself and your peers while simultaneously providing a learning environment where it's safe for trainees to fail? Join me in this case study of onboarding and training next-generation z/VM engineering talent. We'll look at strategies and tactics for providing training resources, successfully growing a globally-dispersed team, and methods used to build a productive working and learning environment that is simultaneously fail-safe and safe to fail.

You've seen the headlines. Droughts, floods, fires, hurricanes, melting glaciers. What impact do mainframes have on the global environment? Does the efficient refrigerator-sized box make a difference? What about the number of processors included in a z16, and what happens to the hardware after a mainframe is no longer used? If everything runs in the cloud, when does the rain come?

IBM Z has a 40+ year history in security and cryptography starting with the design of the Lucifer cipher in 1974 (which became the Data Encryption Standard, DES algorithm) to today, with enablement of Quantum Safe Cryptography for the IBM z16. IBM z16 introduces new capabilities in IBM Z hardware, operating systems and middleware to provide quantum safe encryption and more. This session will cover new features in the IBM z16 Crypto Ecosystem, including z/OS Cryptographic Services (ICSF), in support of data protection.
